3 Ways to Get Your Guest Post Accepted Into any Blog

Just a few years ago, most bloggers were content to publishing blog posts on their own sites, without giving guest post writing a second thought.

Today, any blogger who does not guest post is the exception, and any blogger worth his weight in salt is eager, nay, desperate about getting his guest posts accepted to authority blogs.

There has been one problem, though, that hinders new entrants into the guest blogging arena.

Writing a guest post is one thing, but getting it accepted is quite another.

This has led a lot of would be guest bloggers to conclude that guest blogging is difficult and abandon the technique.

The truth is that when done right, guest blogging can become a consistent source of visitors and dollars to your website. If you would like to get more traffic and revenue to your website, then carefully consider the tips below. They were written just for you.

Content is Always King – Deliver Amazing Content

3 Ways to Get Your Guest Post Accepted Into any BlogIf you think the age-long axiom that content is king is obsolete, then think again. Content is king, and as long as we continue to write for human consumption, content will remain king.

It is difficult for a blog owner to let amazingly well written guest post pass him by.

This is true even in cases where the blog owner had other posts scheduled.

This is because most blog owners are constantly on the lookout for great content for their blogs, and some are even willing to pay for the content. If you develop your writing craft, you will find that more and more of your guest posts will get accepted into the blogs of your choice.

Build a Relationship with the Owner of the Blog

This may not be compulsory, but it is effective in breaking the ice and getting your guest post accepted into any blog.

No matter how large or successful a blog is, remember that there is always somebody behind the scenes calling the shots.

Having a relationship with the key character behind a blog can ensure that when your guest post lands on his inbox, he will recognize your name with a smile and without any doubt, publish your post.

Identify the owner of the blog and be on the lookout for ways to be of service to him. It could be by sharing his posts on social networks, leaving incisive responses to his blog posts and becoming an integral part of the community he is building around his blog.

At the point you make your name known as part of the ‘crowd’, it may even amaze you that the blog owner will request for a guest post from you.

Ensure Your Guest Post is Neatly Formatted

When your guest post is properly formatted, it becomes easier for the blog owner to read or scan through. This can significantly increase your guest blogging success rate.

Use bold or italics where needed to make your points stand out. Make good use of paragraphs – the shorter the better.  If you review this post, you will notice that no single paragraph has more than four sentences. That is why you could get to the end of this article so fast.

Short paragraphs are easier on the eyes and they can encourage a blog owner to read your guest post to the very end. And, if you can keep their attention to the end, most likely your work is done!

Guest Post Submission Take Home

Nobody rejects good content. If your content is good enough, even A-list bloggers have been known to disrupt their publishing schedule to publish it. So do not rush it. Take time out to craft very useful guest posts and watch your acceptance rates skyrocket!

6 Tips to Power Writing Articles for Site Building

If you have the gift of writing, here are 6 ways to enhance that gift so you can keep on writing good articles.

Article submission to quality sites is one way of gaining publicity and creating interest so viewers will visit your website. More so if the articles are of the same niche as the site they are submitted to. This helps maximize your presence on search engines when people search about your category.

article writing tips Picture it this way. Someone thinking of vacation is likely to visit a site, niche of which is about travel. If you have an article posted on that site that discusses the best hotel accommodations, travel attractions or airline deals, the visitor is expected to read it. This often leads them to click on a link that may refer the reader back to your site. Thus, you gain site visitors all because an article caught their interest.

Here’s how you can keep on posting relevant and interesting articles.

Start to catch attention beginning with well-worded title

article writing tips

Compare these two titles: 6 Tips to Power Writing Articles for Site Building and Writing Articles: How to Improve Your Skills to Help Build Your Site. Both titles using “writing articles” as keywords give readers an idea what the article is about. However, the first one immediately lets the reader know in one quick skim. (read more here: copywriting 101 ) See some more templates here

Learn the basics of writing

While English is a universal language, if you write it superfluously using highfalutin words, readers may not understand it. When you write an article, make sure your topic is highly interesting but written in simple, easy to understand manner. Keep it as short as possible too so as not to bore your readers – 300 to 500 words is an ideal article length. Be clear on what your article is all about and make it factual. Consider the use of bullet points, numbers or figures to highlight important information, keeping your paragraphs brief.

Know how to properly use keywords

article writing tips

Keywords are a factor in determining the relevance of your article in search engines but don’t overdo it. The right density is the key as excessive use has it disadvantages too! Use relevant keywords that would appear natural and comfortable within the article (in the title and body) to keep the tone conversational.

Keep them coming

Not only should you write compelling articles but you must keep them coming. People often look for fresh, new read. If they know that they can regularly get it from you, they are likely to stay and refer new visitors. As a result, your site will have regular traffic that steadily increases.(Tip from How to Blog For a Living )

Promote through backlinks

The very purpose of your submitted article is to promote your site. You need to get listed in relevant search results. it requires a few steps to get listed in google results. You need to create a link that will lead the reader to your site once that link is clicked. What you write on that particular line where the link is has to interest your reader to make them want to click.

Create bookmarks on different sites

Delicious, StumbleUpon, Reddit and Digg are just some of the popular social sites where you can bookmark your article. You may also utilize RSS feed through Bloglines, Netvibes and other similar sites. Doing so will help deliver visitors to your site.

How to add a touch of professionalism to your website

Professionalism implies that you know what you are doing, are good at what you are doing and respect the other person’s lack of knowledge about what you are doing.

It then becomes your business to explain things to them in as simple a language as you can without overwhelming them with professional jargon. You need to do all of this in a calm unruffled manner.

Now translate this entire scenario to the virtual world – and most of us will immediately think that professionalism is simply not applicable to the online world.

Nothing can be farther from the truth. A person who believes in professionalism will value all his clients and make their lives easier – simply because it means more business for him.
So how do we go about being professional on our websites? Here are some pointers that will prove to be of great help to you.

Tip 1: Do your homework

Take the time to browse through websites that particularly attract your attention.
Observe and analyse the features that they have used and are particularly useful to the visitors.
Invest some time in learning how to build a website. It is not as difficult as it looks and there are several soft ware programs which will make the learning a real breeze for you. Takes a little time and effort and a whole lot of interest – but the end result will always be worth it.
Design the website with care and then pay close attention to all the tips listed below because they make a great grand difference in the number of visitors that visit your website.

Tip 2: Select the right font and use the right font size.

Refrain from using different fonts to attract and sustain the visitors’ interest. Different fonts distract and irritate readers.

Use a proper font size – and a proper font for the text of your website. No visitor is going to be interested in reading the content of your website if it is too small to read. Visitors have a dozen websites to get their information from – they simply can’t be bothered to zoom the content of your site to read the text – so it becomes your business to select the right font size too.

And yes – there are professional fonts as well – Verdana, Georgia, Adobe Gothic etc are better than Times New Roman – because the font is well rounded and the letters are evenly spaced – which makes it easier for the visitors to read.

Tip 3: Ensure that the text has the right background

Use contrasting colours for your background and text matter. A white background with black letters is sensible – but a black background with white letters will make the visitors squint in distaste and wonder if something is wrong with their computer.

Imagine their response or reaction when they see that different font sizes and colours and backgrounds have been used to attract their attention.

Yes – that is the exact response and reaction that you need to avoid at all costs – and paying close attention to such fine nuances will make all the difference.

One thing to remember is to use the right text color that works well with the background.

Tip 4: Refrain from overdoing the designing of website

Several web designers get carried away by the host of features that are available at their disposal. They use appropriate images for their backgrounds and feel that this will have a positive impact on the content that is written. Overdoing design eventually results in heavy cost of webdesign.

Nothing can be farther from the real scenario.

Images used as backgrounds will cause the entire site to load at a slower pace –which leads to user frustration and impatience.
The impact that the content generates will get affected when the users are distracted by the back ground.
basic programming

Tip 5: Search feature and Search button

Obviously all the visitors are not going to get the details they are looking for on the first page of the site. But once they land on your site, they will look around for a while to search for what they are looking and also for other interesting information.
And then they will look for a search field and button.
So put in a search field, search feature and a search button in a place that is instantly visible to all the visitors.

Tip 6: Site map

Once the visitor gets the relevant information from your site easily, he will want to look into the other aspects of your website. He will want to know more about what your website has to offer.

Sitemaps give a detailed overview of the entire website and guide the viewers correctly to the right part of your site.
Search engines love site maps and you too will be able to keep track of the structure and layout of your entire website.

Also read Why You Should Build A Sitemap Before Designing Your Site

Tip 7: Don’t blow your own trumpet so visibly

Websites displaying the number of visitors who visited their website today, this week, this month…….end up getting negative publicity.

People browsing through the website may not get all the details they are looking for and will wonder why and how so many people visited this website in the first place!
Instead of focussing on getting the information they wanted from your website – they end up wondering about the hype you created with the numbers!
Make use of the high quality tracking services that are available to keep track of the number of visitors who visited your site. Some tracking devices are free – so go in for whichever one suits your budget – but let it be something that you do because you are personally interested in it.

Tip 8: Check for broken links

Just before your webpage goes live, check for broken links. Visitors get extremely frustrated when they click on a link and are redirected to an error page.
Invest the time to check for broken links manually or use specific programs that are designed to scan and report broken links within the website for you.

Tip 9: Create a cancel feature in your website

Several visitors are likely to probe into all the pages of your website because they find the content useful and interesting.
Pop up pages like ordering products, options to register for an email newsletter or providing contact information may not really deter or distract them from your site if you provide them with a cancel action option.
By NOT giving them this option, they will feel you are forcing them into a corner and it may create a negative impact and impression on their minds and they will refrain from buying your product out of rebellion.
There are some features that you should avoid in the design too.

Tip 10: Be honest and courteous with feedback

Feedback is a direct channel of communication between the visitor and the host of the website.
If there is a product or a service involved and the visitor is expressing his opinion or dissatisfaction with it – listen to it quietly, calmly and with an open mind.
Analyse the feedback objectively and then use it judiciously to improve the quality of your website.

Thank the visitor for taking the time to express his opinion and tell him how you have used the feedback constructively and see how appreciative they are of your interest in your website.
Often, some pages take longer to load than others due to some internal technical issues or server problems. Instead of simply showing a screen with ‘error occurred’ on it – explain to the visitor the exact nature of the problem that occurred and give him a suggestion to overcome the problem along with it.

You will gain their co-operation and trust when you do this – because it shows that you value every visitor that visits your page.

Anyone can create a good website and design it perfectly. But being committed to delivering the best in terms of quality and service at all times is what professionalism is all about.
It does not really matter whether we are conducting our business in the real world or virtual world – what matters is the customer service!! When we hold our visitors in high esteem and put their needs before ours – we will be rewarded with more visitors and more clicks and more orders for our products and services!! This ensures that we will remain in business –which just happens to be our end goal too!

How To Style PDF Links With An Icon Using CSS

A typical webpage has numerous links. By default, all links look the same. This no doubt has its advantages. But then, what if you want links to certain types of files to look different? Well, the best thing you can do is to attach icons to the links.

Let’s take pdf files, for instance. The pdf icon is one of the most recognisable. Anyone who has been around computers can spot it instantly. When building a webpage which contains pdf links, this is an advantage. You can insert a pdf icon next to the links. This lets web users to easily tell pdf links apart from the other links on the webpage.

1. Get A Picture of the PDF icon

The first step is to get a picture of the pdf icon. There are numerous such pictures which are freely available online. Icon finder is one of my favourites.
pdf icon

Once you find the right picture, place it into your image folder. In our example, the file name is “pdf-icon.png” and it is in a folder called “images”.

2. Insert the pdf links on the webpage

You can insert as many pdf links as you want. For this example, we shall insert only one link as follows:

<a href= "sample-pdf-file.pdf"> Open PDF Document </a>

It will look like any other link. To make it look different, we’ll add some CSS styling. But first, we have to select it.

3. Use CSS attribute selectors to select pdf links

This is the most important step. Make sure you understand it perfectly.

Now, CSS has what are called “attribute selectors”. Attribute selectors are basically used to select html elements on the basis of their attributes. To select pdf links, you have to select all <a> tags which have a href attribute which points to a pdf file. This is how you select them:

a[href$= ".pdf"]

This is what the following selector means:

a – select all <a> tags

a[] – select all <a> tags which have the following attributes. The attributes are placed within the square brackets.

a[href] – select all <a> tags which have the following href attribute

a[href$] – select all <a> tags whose href attribute ends with. The $ means “ends with”

a[href$= “.pdf”] – select all <a> tags whose href attributes end with “.pdf”.

Of course you know that “.pdf” is an extension which denotes a pdf file. As such, any file ending with “.pdf” must be a pdf file.

Basically, a[href$= “.pdf”] selects all the pdf links on the webpage.

Read this page for more info on styling links

4. Attach the pdf icon to the links

The following style adds an icon to each of the pdf links on the webpage.

	background-image: url(images/pdf-icon.png);
	background-position: center left;
	background-repeat: no-repeat;
	padding-left: 35px;
	height: 35px;
	display: inline-block;
	padding-top: 10px;

This style basically attaches the pdf icon as a background image to the link. The main rule which does this is:

background-image: url(images/pdf-icon.png);

The other rules are added to ensure that the image is visible. For instance, the height rule gives the link a height which is equal to that of the image. The padding-left moves the text to the left – ensuring that it doesn’t appear on top of the icon.
See this page: how to set background image in HTML for more info on background image CSS properties

You can actually use the same approach for styling other types of links e.g. links to Microsoft Word documents, mp3 files or mp4 files. All you have to do is find the picture of the icons, and tweak the attribute selector. For instance, to select all links to mp3 files, you use the following selector a[href$=”.mp3″].

Ajax Programming

Ajax (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) is not new programming language, it is merely a new way of using standards that currently exist. Basically, it is the art of data exchange with a server as well as the updating of parts or a web page without having to reload the entire page. The use of Ajax results in the creation of dynamic and fast web pages. Applications that currently utilize the programming techniques of Ajax are as follows: Facebook tabs, YouTube, Gmail and Google Maps.
Prior to learning the art of Ajax programming, one should have at least a basic working knowledge of:

  • DOM/JavaScript
  • CSS

It is imperative to have this base knowledge, since Ajax is based on the standards of the internet while utilizing an amalgamation in the following manner: basic programming

  • XMLHttpRequest object – used to asynchronously exchange data with a server. This occurs behind the scenes that allows for parts of a page to be updated.
  • JavaScript/DOM – is used to interact/display with the information provided
  • CSS – is used for data styling
  • XML – is generally utilized as the transferring data format

Common Steps

The following will explain sequence of actions in an Ajax web application and the structure of HTML:

  1. The handEvent (), JavaScript will be summoned when an event has ensued on the HTML element
  2. In the handEvent (), a XMLHttpRequest object is created
  3. The XMLHttpRequest object is able to organize an XML message in about the status of the page and then it is sent to the server
  4. XMLHttpRequest object parses the returning message from the server as it updates it into the DOM

Example Code

<form id=”form1” runat=”server”>
<input type=”text” id=”lblTime”>
<input type=”button” id=”btnGetTime” value=”Get Time” onclick=”getTime();” />

  1. The DOM object is input type=”text” id=lblTime” which needs to be refreshed singularly. This will be accomplished by pressing the onclick/the event of a button
  2. The handEvent() is GetTime()

Within JavaScript the most basic implementation of the XMLHttpRequest resembles the following:
javascript file

var xmlHttpRequest;
function GetTime()
//create XMLHttpRequest object
xmlHttpRequest =(window.XMLHttpRequest) ?new XMLHttpRequest() : new ActiveXObject (“Msxm12.XMLHTTP”);

//If the browser doesn’t support Ajax, exit now
if (xmlHttpRequest ==null) return;

//Initiate the XMLHttpRequest object“Get”, “Time.aspx”, true);

//Setup the callback function

//Send the Ajax request to the server with the GET data

Function StateChange()
if (xmlHttpRequest.readyState == 4)
Document.getElementaryById('lblTime’).value =

The handEvent() ex. GetTime() creates an XMLHttpRequest as follows:

//create XMLHttpRequest object
xmlHttprequest = (window.XMLHttpRequest) ? new XMLHttpRequest () : newActiveXObject(“Msxm12.XMLHTTP”);

If Ajax is not supported, the browser will return a false
The connection to the server must be opened with the new XMLHttpRequest object.

//Initiate the XMLHttpRequest object“Get”, “ime.aspx”, true);

When working with Ajax, you will become accustomed to its “callback” function that is used to catch the response of the server when it has completed processing the Ajax request. The callback reference is created like this:

//Setup the callback function
xmlHttpRequest.onreadystatetechange = StateChange;.
The function of the callback will look like the following:
Function StateChange()
if(xmlHttpRequest.readyState == 4)
Document.getElementById('lblTime’).value =xmlHttpRequest.responseText;

The onreadystatechange will fire multiple times during a request via Ajax. The “readyState” property must be evaluated to determine when the server response is complete (4). Once it becomes 4, the DOM can be updated with the response message provided via the server.

The request method being sent is “GET” (this is case sensitive). There is zero need to send additional information to the server.

//Send the Ajax request to the server with the GET data xmlHttpRequest.send(null);
Via Time.aspx.cs on Page_Load event, a simple response is to be written.

Response.Write(DateTime.Now.Hour + “:” +DateTime.Now.Minute +“:” +DateTime.Now.Second );

web-designA web designer’s job is to design highly user-friendly websites. If designers do not keep themselves updated with the latest web design trends then they would not be able to satisfy their clients’ needs. In addition to that, frequently updating themselves with the new web design trends will help designers to compete better against their rivals. In 2015, several web design trends have emerged that have completely modified the way web designers used to design websites before. The list of these latest web design trends is as follows:

Setting an image as the website background

This year, web designers have started to use high resolution photos as website backgrounds instead of designing website layouts created using photoshop software. Photos in the background seem to attract more viewers and engage them into navigating the websites for longer durations.

Ghost Buttons

Ghost Buttons are faint buttons that viewers see while they are navigating through a website. Ghost buttons are usually placed in the middle on the web page for viewers to quickly notice them. Web designers are using ghost buttons extensively in their designs to enable viewers to notice important options and content on the website.

Responsive website design

Designing responsive content on the website has become more of a necessity rather than an option for the web designers. Responsive content allows users to view their websites conveniently on their digital devices like mobile phones, tablets, etc. Lots of web designers are using WordPress themes as they provide variety of tools to create responsive content.

Infographics refer to the idea of displaying information by using colourful and stylish graphics on a website. These days, web designers are using Infographics heavily on their websites to make them look more appealing and engaging to the viewers.

Emphasis on Typography

Websites with high quality typography are likely to attract more consumer attention. Thus, web designers are emphasising on using beautiful typography on their websites. Typography comes in variety of styles so web designers have to select one that matches their websites’ layouts and themes.

High resolution images and videos

High resolution images and videos recorded usinga digital camera attract consumer attention. People are more likely to visit those websites that display high resolution images and videos.

More scrolling and less clicking

As more people are using mobile devices to browse internet they like scrolling on the websites instead of clicking. Therefore, web designers are using scrolling option more than clicking option to make websites easy to use for them.

Card design

Professional websites are now using card design as it presents the content in a more organised, modular and concise way. Adopting card design may enable the web designers to create more versatile websites for their audience.

Interactive content

Web designers who use simple, creative, and personalised language are able to generate high traffic on the website. In 2015, people will require web designers to use friendly and polite language on the website.
